The White House doubling tariffs on aluminum and steel might mean soda cans and cutlery prices will skyrocket, making summer barbecues a more “premium” affair. Perhaps this is a strategy to get everyone to switch to recycled paper plates and drink directly from the garden hose, in an indirect effort to “save” the environment. Or perhaps it’s just a way to ensure that every American-made product feels a little more “expensive” and “exclusive.”
